The Association

The Philippine Association of Secretaries and Administrative Professionals - Cebu Chapter, Inc. was organized in 1963 by a group of five secretaries.

The Association started with only 15 members and has grown its membership to 65 office professionals to date including those in other fields with positions ranging from secretaries, administrative assistants, executive assistants, human resources practitioners aand a few occupying top management positions.

 
Mission

PAS, INC. - Cebu Chapter aims to promote professionalism in the secretarial and administrative fields; serving as a channel for technological, interpersonal and management competency development as well as career advancement in a spirit of camaraderie and collaboration.

 
Vision

We are in step of times, self-sufficient and financially stable, a learning center where all members are trainers and educators, acknowledged as high caliber global qualiity multi-skilled and principle-centered partners in whatever organization or setting they may be in.

 
Objectives

 The Association wishes to accomplish the following objectives:

  •  To offer continuing education program to members and other interested groups designed to promote quality service.
  •  To serve as a center of relevant and updated information related to the secretarial and administrative profession.
  •  To foster closer relationship among members, between members and executives.
  •  To initiate community service projects in coordination with other professional, religious and socio-civic organizations.

The Committees

The Association has four committees: Education, Finance, Membership and Socio-Civic tasked to plan, organize and implement projects and activities aimed at enhancing the personal and professional skills and competence of its members in accordance with the recognized core values of the Association.

 
How to be a Member?

 As embodied in the Articles of Incorporation and By-Laws of the Association, each applicant must qualify and shall comply with the following requirements for membership:

  •  Employed in a reputable office wherein his/her main functions involve a variety of administrative and/or secretarial duties as well as performance of highly specialized work that requires knowledge of technical Procedures necessary to run and maintain Organization efficiency.
  •  A Bachelor's degree holder and two years actual experience in secretarial work and/or office administration; if not, must have. Completed a two-year secretarial education and/or its related fields and three years actual experience in secretarial work and/or office administration.
  •  An applicant fills out and signs an Application for Membership and submits it to the Membership Committee together with a formal endorsement from his/her executive, a certification from his/her company that he/she passed the IQ, EQ and Personality Test.
  •  If the applicant has not taken the above-mentioned test, the Membership Committee schedules him/her for an examination with the Testing Center designated by the Association for the exam.
  •  If the application and other supporting documents are found satisfactory, the applicant shall attend three consecutive general membership meetings to orient him/her to the programs and policies of the Association with a minimal participation fee.
  •  After the completion of the required attendance, the Membership Committee schedules the applicant for an interview to be conducted by the Membership Committee and representative(s) from the Board.
  • The accepted applicant, upon payment of his/her entrance fee and annual dues, the amounts of which shall be subject to the approval of the Board of Directors, shall be inducted as Regular Member on his/her fourth meeting. He/She shall be formally inducted by the PAS-Cebu Chapter president and presented as Member during any one of the Association's annual highlights: the Executive's Night in April and Christmas Program in December.
